Education develops life skills within an individual to live in society, overcoming all the challenges confronting his or her path. Education also helps an individual to inculcate all latent potentialities to become successful in life and serve society and the nation. It helps in eradicating all the darkness from society by enlightening human minds. Education broadens one s knowledge and skills while also shaping one s personality and attitude. Thus, education unquestionably influences the quality of a person s life. It constitutes one of the main factors that influences modernization. The world is changing rapidly because of rapid modernization. newlineThe term ICT that stands for Information and Communication Technology, is defined as a diverse set of technological tools and resources used to create, transmit, store, share or exchange information. ICT covers a wide range of hardware and software systems. It plays a key role in the field of education nowadays. The aim of ICT integration in education is to improve and increase the quality, accessibility and cost efficiency of the delivery of instruction to students. ICT increases the flexibility of delivery of education so that learners can access knowledge anytime or anywhere, thus supporting independent learning too. It also helps in school administration in many ways. newlineThe various uses of ICT in secondary education can be listed under many categories. These include: use of ICT in teaching-learning process; developing instruction material; developing reasoning and thinking; school administration; evaluation, communication among teachers and fellow teachers as well as teachers and students; developing virtual laboratory; library; distance education; diagnostic testing; remedial teaching; psychological testing, etc. newline~ xxv ~ newlineThe various tools of ICT used in school education are desktop computers, laptop computers, LCD |
