Abstract: | Any natural or artificial substance based on chemical, physical or biological interference that are introduced into an outdoor or indoor atmosphere in a concentration that is sufficient to produce measurable adverse health effects to living beings is referred as air pollution. Air pollution is not a factor of existence at outdoor environment, it also has its traces on indoor environments like hospitals, schools, shopping malls, movie halls and vehicle cabins posing a health risk. Some of the most common gaseous that affect indoor air quality are PM, CO, CO2, NO2, SO2 and VOCs. There are many factors that can contribute to poor IAQ such as: off-gassing from building materials and furnishings; mold and mildew growth; moisture intrusion; ventilation problems; inadequate filtration; and chemical pollutants from cleaning products, pesticides, or other sources. Fortunately, there are a number of ways to improve IAQ such as: increasing ventilation; using air filters or purifiers; controlling humidity levels; maintaining cleanliness; and avoiding use of harmful chemicals. IAQ is an important issue to consider in both homes and workplaces. By taking steps to improve IAQ, we can create healthier indoor environments that lead to improved health for occupants. Vehicle cabins are one of the most dangerous indoor environments that are subjected to pollutants from various sources such as outside air, the vehicle itself and even the people inside the cabin. newline |
