Abstract: This study involved investigation of two types of castables namely newlinealumina grog based 65% low cement dense castables, and expanded perlite newlineand pyrophyllite based 42-50% conventional insulation castables. For dense newlinecastables, alumina grog was obtained from recycled andalusite and mullite newlinebricks for circular economy. The creativity of this work was in enhancing the newlineproperties of alumina grog by providing zircon surface coating over it in order newlineto reduce porosity. The low cement dense castables with sintered mullite, newlinealumina grog and zircon coated alumina grog in unfired or fired state were newlineprepared and the properties were studied properties to suggest suitable newlineapplications based on test results newline
