dc.description.abstract | Classical queueing models are systems in continuous time. But in newlinereal-life scenario it has been observed that there are systems which have the newlinetime scale to be slotted intervals. Due to this fact, the discrete time queueing newlinemodels require more exploration to design the realistic queueing models. The newlinesignificant advantage of the discrete time queues is that they are more relevant newlinethan their continuous time equivalents to suit the modelling of digital systems. newlineAs an added advantage, the continuous time models can be derived from the newlinediscrete time systems which is a main factor that encourages the researchers. newlineRetrial queueing systems have been extensively studied due to newlinetheir salient applications in many real-life systems such as computer systems, newlineinventory systems and telecommunication networks. Retrial queueing systems newlineare distinguished by the truth that an arrival who finds the server not-available newlinefor service may append itself to a group of blocked customers or the retrial newlinegroup termed as the orbit and retries for service after a random period of time. newlineThough many researchers have widely explored the continuous newlinetime retrial queueing systems, study on the discrete time retrial queues has newlinegained momentum only in the recent years. This is due to the fact that the newlinediscrete time retrial queues are more suitable to design the slotted time computer newlineand communication systems such as B-ISDN (Broadband Integrated Services newlineDigital Network) and TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) systems. The newlineadvent of the digital era has widened the scope for the study of the discrete time newlineretrial queueing models newline | |
