Abstract: | The current situation makes micro machining a highly desirable method, as many industries are subsequently becoming accustomed to the global trends of miniaturization. Advanced machining techniques are currently competing in opposition to the response properties of the materials in the creation of the surface features in this context. The laser beam micro-milling has established its superiority over those other machining techniques as a unique strategy. Due to the precise dimension requirements of the aerospace, automotive, and process industries, an effort has been made in the current research to fabricate micro-channels on titanium alloy (Ti6Al4v - Grade-V) work materials, one with advanced high strength materials. The current experimental analysis is carried out in two fold. Firstly, the study is focused to investigate the changes in upper width and lower width of the micro-channel a parametric investigation on the dimensions of micro- channels was conducted along with recast layer thickness followed by surface integrity. The outcomes are further analyzed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) to examine the surface features and elemental changes at the laser ablated zone. The experiments were planned for the chosen variables such like scan strategy, diode current, assist gas pressure and scan speed to study their effects on responses of the micro-channels. Finally, a statistical optimization method known as grey relational analysis (GRA) was used to forecast an ideal parametric setting. newline |
