dc.description.abstract | Contemporarily, the development of Distributed Generations (DGs) newlinetechnologies is fetching more, and their deployment in power systems is becoming newlinebroad and diverse. Consequently, several glitches are found in the recent studies newlinedue to the inappropriate/inadequate penetrations. newlineThis thesis includes two works, one is Generation system reliability. newlineIt is the main feature in the planning for future system capacity expansion to newlineconfirm that the total installed capacity is enough to deliver adequate electricity newlinewhen needed. The planning method uses reliability indices as a criterion to decide newlineon new investments in new generation capacities. With the development of newlinerenewable energy as the promising future generating options, system planners newlinenow focus on integrating large number of renewable resources, namely wind, newlinesolar, wave and tidal energy which are intermittent in nature. The intermittency of newlinethese resources contributes little to the electricity system reliability. And also, this newlinework focus on evaluating how intermittent solar generation contributes newlineto the generation system adequacy and affects system reliability. The reliability newlineevaluation is carried out using Equivalent Energy Function method on newlineIEEE- One Area RTS-96 test system with two cases as with and without solar newlinepower plant. newlineAnother work also aims to improve the reliable operation of newlinethe power system employing reliability indices using a metaheuristic-based newlinealgorithm before and after DGs penetration with feeder system. The assessment newlineprocedure is carried out using MATLAB software and Modified Salp newlineSwarm Algorithm (MSSA) that helps assess the Reliability indices of newlinethe proposed integrated IEEE RTS79 system for seven different configurations. newline newline | |
