dc.description.abstractFor the development of a Nation, it is essential to have infrastructure development. In a country like India maximum population belongs to the rural areas of the country. It is necessary to attach the people with the technology and latest developmental sectors. To improve the infrastructure there are two basic necessities one to have land on which such projects can be made and other to have environmental approvals under various agencies to establish and operate the project. For Acquisition of land Government has made a lot of enactments through which this process can be regulated. Any infrastructure project would have social, environmental, economic and political implications. Besides compensation and rehabilitation of the displaced project affected people, environmental and social costs are equally crucial for the government to take care of. In the light of legal development and rising environmental concerns the procedural requirements are becoming more and more stringent and cumbersome, thus leading to the resultant delays. This is crucial for the development process and requires an in-depth study in order to understand the practical aspects of the problem. This research tries to find out the challenges faced in infrastructure development. To study the efficacy of EIA and Land Acquisition laws for various Infrastructure Projects in the State of Himachal Pradesh. This research tries to study the legal and institutional framework prevailing in India on environment impact assessment and land acquisition laws. newline
