Abstract: The alarming issue of farmer suicides in Punjab is deeply rooted in factors like mounting debt, crop failures, and inadequate support systems. Pervasive use of chemical-intensive farming methods, fluctuating crop prices, and climate change exacerbate their plight. Existing laws have proven inadequate in effectively addressing the complex issue of farmer suicides in Punjab. The legal framework falls short in providing comprehensive solutions to the root causes such as mounting debt, crop failures, and lack of support. Mounting debt, often fueled by unpredictable crop yields, fluctuating market prices, and inadequate support systems, places immense psychological and financial strain on farmers ultimately led them towards suicide. newline
