This thesis focuses on the design and development of optically transparent antennas for automotive communications. These antennas are easy to integrate onto the surfaces of the windshields and mirrors of automobiles while maintaining visibility and antenna functionality. The materials used in the design of the antennas are optically transparent and have good conductivity, thereby increasing the demand for these materials in vehicular applications. This thesis discusses the design, analysis, fabrication, and performance of the optically transparent antennas in the automobile environment. newlineThe works starts with studying the importance of an optically transparent antenna in an automotive environment. These antennas can easily be mounted on the glass surfaces of automobiles without affecting the aesthetics while retaining the performance of the antennas. Hence, the properties of different transparent conductors are studied to choose the best material for the design of optically transparent antennas. Among the different conductors, Fluorine Tin Oxide (FTO) is used in the thesis for the development of the antennas. newline newline
