dc.description.abstract | In Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs), vehicles function as the mobile nodes in deployed network involved for communication and data dissemination. The communication medium is used that transfer data/information from one vehicle node to alternative vehicle node. VANET consists of vehicles embedded with a large number of sensors associated with the vehicles and RSUs (Road Side Units) to assist the vehicles. Because of, the increasing count of vehicles on the road, traffic congestion has been observed as a major issue which has gained attention in the last couple of years. Further, it can offer cost-efficient solution to number of applications such as route planning, avoid congestion, driver safety, and avoid jamming. However, deployment of such applications require efficient routing protocols. In the present work, initially the existing routing protocols are analysed. Therefore, the work starts with brief background introducing the concepts of VANET architecture, type of communications, its broad applications and associated challenges. newline | |
