Abstract: Basaveshwara was the Prime Minister of the Kalachuri dynasty in Karnataka and is one of the earliest reformers of Karnataka who attempted to establish Kalyana Rajya (meaning welfare state) during the 12th century through his innovative concept of Kayaka. Contemporary public administrators play a pivotal role in achieving the welfare state as ushered in the Constitution of India. However, they are largely influenced by the British legacy and in this regard, they are facing many challenges and problems. Hence this research aims to understand the perceived relevance of administrative aspects of Basaveshwara s Kayaka concept by in-service public administrators in Karnataka. newline
