Abstract: | Silk has a unique place in the history of fabrics. Mention the word and#8213;silkand#8214; and the mind immediately conjures up images of luxury and sensuality. Men may continue to invent new fabrics with advanced properties, but there will never be a substitute for silk. Silk alone can converge diverse properties, providing lightness with grace and sheerness with strength and delicacy with resilience. It is no wonder; silk is crowned as the queen of textiles. Eri silk, though categorized under wild silk, has the same properties as delicate wool fibre and compatible. Eri silk knitwear has special properties, which keep the body comfortable in the hot and cold seasons. A wide range of knitwear garments for men, women, and kids, have been developed. Eri silk knitted garments encompass better mechanical, dimensional and thermal comfort properties making the fabric suitable for garments. It has inspired and stimulated new trends by providing opportunities for improving the quality of the product. The tribal communities have also been benefited financially because of the expansion of marketability. This research study mainly aims to develop and investigate the dimensional, physical, moisture management and thermal properties of tri layer knitted fabrics for thermal wear application. For the development of different combinations of tri layers of knitted fabrics as cotton/ cotton/ cotton; cotton/ micro denier polyester/ cotton; eri silk/ micro denier polyester/ bamboo; and eri silk/ micro denier polyester/ tencel; 100% of each eri silk, cotton, micro denier polyester, bamboo, and tencel yarns were used. newline |
