Abstract: | Upanishadic Concept of Education: A Historical Perspective is a study which aims to explore the concept of education that emerged in Upanishadic times in contrast with the Vedic times. The thesis explores the various aspects of education such as the mode and methods, medium of instruction, institutions and other educational centres and the like. The thesis also explores the relevance of Brahmacharya Asrama in education. It browses through the celebrated teachers and preceptors of Upanishadic times. It brings out the virtues of teacher-taught relationships in contemporary times. The most striking feature of the thesis is the education of women and the impact education had on general society. newline |
