dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Stroke, which includes both hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, affects 13.7 newlinemillion people worldwide each year and is the second greatest cause of mortality, with 5.5 newlinemillion fatalities each year. Because most of our everyday tasks include the use of both newlinehands, CVA injuries that affect bimanual coordination are an additional burden for stroke newlinepatients. Many neurological diseases cause spasticity, including spinal cord damage, head newlineinjury, cerebral palsy, stroke, and multiple sclerosis. Spasms may be irritating and painful, newlineand they can interfere with function. Spasticity can produce stiffness and discomfort, while newlinespasms can be painful and annoying. Picking up items, walking, dressing, showering, and newlinesexual activity are all examples of physical tasks that might be impaired. Similarly, the newlineexistence of spasticity and spasms may have an emotional influence on self-esteem, mood, newlineand motivation. Bimanual movement training (BMT) has recently gained popularity as a newlinesupplement to neuro rehabilitation of the paretic upper limb. This study evaluated the newlineeffectiveness of bimanual hand training in the recovery of limbs movement in stroke patients. newlineMethodology: This blinded randomized controlled trial was carried out at Department of newlinePhysiotherapy, Suyash Hospital. A total of 80 patients were involved in the study which were newlinedivided into two groups control and experimental. The control group was treated with newlineconventional therapy while the experimental group was treated with bimanual hand and trunk newlinetraining. FMA scores were noted to evaluate the efficacy of trunk and bimanual hand training newlinein regaining movements. T-test was used to identify the significance difference between the newlinegroups. newlineResult: The results revealed a significant improvement in motions as compared to newlineconventional therapy. We observed that the upper arm function in acute stroke patients was newlineenhanced by the bimanual hand training. newlineConclusion: The Trunk and Bimanual Hand Training are effective interventions for newlineimproving up | |
