Abstract: | Antenna is the backbone of communication network that may be wired or newlinewireless. Next generation wireless communication needs antenna with compact size, newlinehigher gain and better efficiency. This dissertation work aims at design of microstrip newlinearray antenna for next generation wireless communication that includes suitable newlineselection of substrate material, modification of geometry and use of evolutionary newlinealgorithm to enhance the performance of the antenna array. newlineThe selection of a substrate material is one criterion to design an antenna array. newlineThe first part of the dissertation contains substrate material choice for its design. The newlineobjective of this work is to design microstrip array with different materials such as FR-4 newlineand Glass. Glass is also considered as one of the material to be used as substrate. Its newlinedifferent composition is studied for enhancing the performance. newlineNext to material choice, the geometry modification is done .In this case the newlinepatches are suitably placed for higher bandwidth and gain in specific application. As newlinerectangular and circular patches are widely used for antenna and array. The parasitic newlinepatches of these specifications is considered and located suitably. A linear antenna array newlinewith rectangular patches is considered for application of remote health monitoring. newlineCircular parasitic patches around a rectangular patch are designed and verified for Ku newlineband communication. The polygon shapes are further taken and designed where newlinehexagonal shape is found to be better than other shapes. newlineThe geometry modification is finally optimized with the help of two evolutionary newlinealgorithms. One is Genetic Algorithm and other one is Invasive Weed Optimization newlinealgorithm. Genetic Algorithm is used for geometry optimization. Excessive side lobes newlineare responsible for wastage of radiation energy and creating interference to other newlineequipments. Therefore the side lobes are suppressed in the radiation pattern. An newlinealgorithm Invasive Weed Optimization is discussed for lowering the side lobes and newlineimproving the main lobe. |
