Abstract: | InventorydecisionsinsupplychainarecrucialforitssuccessThesedecisionsbecomemoreimportantfortheproductswithexpirationdateMakingthesedecisionsininventorysystemsisachallengingtaskformanagersWithtodayshighcompetitivemarkettoaffordthecostofwarehousesisaverydifficulttaskforthemanagementinmostofthecountriesManagersarefacedwiththeneedtodeliverahighlevelofservicewithminimalwarehouseandinventorycostSincealargeorderedquantityincreasestheworkforceofawarehouseSoitisnecessarytodeveloptoolswhichcanhelpmanagerstohandlethewarehousetoavoidtheextracostofhandlingSoitiseconomicaltoordertheinventoryaccordingtoavailablestoragespaceThusitcanbesaidthattheinventorycontrolproblemwithvariabledemandpatternfordeterioratingproductsisimportantinindustryandvirtuallyaffecttheeveryaspectofdailylifeoperationsMostapproachesintheliteratureforoptimizingdecisionsinsuchanenvironmentconsideronlyasingleiteminventoryInthepresentthesiswehavepresentedamultiiteminventorymodeltooptimizetheunittimeprofitofinventorymanagementfortheproductshavinganexpirationdateFurtherinthethesisaproblemwithspacerestrictionbasedondifferentleadtimesituationsisdevelopedAsononesidetheshortagecostsaresignificantontheothersidetomaintainappropriateinventorylevelsforsuchtypeofproductsandavoidshortagesisaveryproblematicjobIncaseofexpiryproductsthedemandfortheproductsalwaysdecreaseastheproductisnearertoitsexpirationdateSoitisnecessarytoexamineconsumersresponsetoexpirationdatesforgrocerystoreperishableproductsTakingintoconsiderationamodelfortwoechelonsupplychainunderinflationaryenvironmentwiththeeffectofpreservationtechnologyisdevelopedfurtherinthethesisAconceptualframeworkthatcapturesthefrequencywithwhichconsumerscheckexpirationdatesandtheirwillingnesstopayforaperishableoveritsshelflifehasbeendevelopedFurtherdifferentrealisticconceptssuchasintegratedinventorystockdependentdemandtradecreditpolicynoninstantaneousdeteriorationintheproductsandtoavailtheremainingstockinsecondarymarketareincorporatedinthedifferentchaptersofthepresentthesisThemodelsaredesignedwiththedifferentconceptsofvariablehol |
