Abstract: InventorydecisionsinsupplychainarecrucialforitssuccessThesedecisionsbecomemoreimportantfortheproductswithexpirationdateMakingthesedecisionsininventorysystemsisachallengingtaskformanagersWithtodayshighcompetitivemarkettoaffordthecostofwarehousesisaverydifficulttaskforthemanagementinmostofthecountriesManagersarefacedwiththeneedtodeliverahighlevelofservicewithminimalwarehouseandinventorycostSincealargeorderedquantityincreasestheworkforceofawarehouseSoitisnecessarytodeveloptoolswhichcanhelpmanagerstohandlethewarehousetoavoidtheextracostofhandlingSoitiseconomicaltoordertheinventoryaccordingtoavailablestoragespaceThusitcanbesaidthattheinventorycontrolproblemwithvariabledemandpatternfordeterioratingproductsisimportantinindustryandvirtuallyaffecttheeveryaspectofdailylifeoperationsMostapproachesintheliteratureforoptimizingdecisionsinsuchanenvironmentconsideronlyasingleiteminventoryInthepresentthesiswehavepresentedamultiiteminventorymodeltooptimizetheunittimeprofitofinventorymanagementfortheproductshavinganexpirationdateFurtherinthethesisaproblemwithspacerestrictionbasedondifferentleadtimesituationsisdevelopedAsononesidetheshortagecostsaresignificantontheothersidetomaintainappropriateinventorylevelsforsuchtypeofproductsandavoidshortagesisaveryproblematicjobIncaseofexpiryproductsthedemandfortheproductsalwaysdecreaseastheproductisnearertoitsexpirationdateSoitisnecessarytoexamineconsumersresponsetoexpirationdatesforgrocerystoreperishableproductsTakingintoconsiderationamodelfortwoechelonsupplychainunderinflationaryenvironmentwiththeeffectofpreservationtechnologyisdevelopedfurtherinthethesisAconceptualframeworkthatcapturesthefrequencywithwhichconsumerscheckexpirationdatesandtheirwillingnesstopayforaperishableoveritsshelflifehasbeendevelopedFurtherdifferentrealisticconceptssuchasintegratedinventorystockdependentdemandtradecreditpolicynoninstantaneousdeteriorationintheproductsandtoavailtheremainingstockinsecondarymarketareincorporatedinthedifferentchaptersofthepresentthesisThemodelsaredesignedwiththedifferentconceptsofvariablehol
