Mobile Ad-hoc Networks (MANETs) are defined as infrastructure-less, highly dynamic, on the fly networks. Nodes can join the network when they are in each other s communication range and leave the network, once out of range at any point of time. MANETs are frequently utilized for academic, emergency, and military communications. Each node in a MANET serves as both a host and a router because there is no infrastructure. Mobile Ad-hoc Network is more open to attacks because of its dynamic nature. When building any network, it is necessary to ensure reliable security. Due to mobility, the network topology is unstable and due to limited node battery, network lifetime is limited. This results in several challenges in scalability, endurance, security and performance of the network. Compared to other types of networks, the security challenges are more difficult to resolve because any node can join or leave the network without any authorization. MANETs are vulnerable to various attacks at different layers. Two of the major active security attacks in Ad-hoc networks are the Black Hole node (BH) attack and Gray Hole node (GH) attack. newline
