Abstract: Evaluation of Standards for Digital Preservation of Documentary Heritage in India newline researches the digitization of cultural heritage in India, and more precisely on the newlinedigitization of library and archival material. It studies the policy and the practices of newlinestandards and protocols while creating, preserving documentary heritage resources. The newlinereason for choosing this multidimensional theme (librarianship; information technology, newlinedigitization, cultural heritage policy and management) have arising due to the large scale newlineof the digitization projects have been taken up by the heritage organizations that in India newlinetoo that is predicted that the digital heritage will be the future, and the digital information newlinewill be enormous in near future and it will override the physical information resources. newlineThe purpose of the research is to analyze current the phenomena of digitization newlineprojects, planning, and practices by Indian institutions, in order to possibly provide an newlineeffective and efficient practice for sustainable digital and metadata preservation that can newlinebe helpful for the formation of uniform digitization strategy at the institutional and newlinenational level; and also the provide solution to uniform the varied metadata structure to newlinefacilitate the exchange and interoperability of digital records among digital information newlinesystems. newline Sustainability of digitization projects affects the decision of long-term accessibility newlineand preservation of digital resources. in an important aspect while the long-term newlinepreservation and accessibility of these resources are not guaranteed when the computer newlinehardware, software and storage devices change rapidly. What are the technological newlineopportunities and challenges that need to be tackled?
