comparison between block on arrival and conventional analgesics for patients with hip injury

Abstract

This prospective interventional newlinestudy was conducted among 40 patients with hip injury who was newlinemanaged either with on arrival block(FICB) [Group A (n=20)] or newlineconventional analgesics[Group B (n=20)] by dividing into two newlinegroups in our institute between November 2020 to May 2022 over a newlineperiod of 1 year and 6 months. Patient was assessed by VAS score newlineand Patient satisfaction score. newlineRESULTS: The overall mean age of the patients was 65.72 years. newlineAnd most of the patients had injury after slip and fall. In Group A, newlinethe mean VAS score on arrival is 7.55 which improved to 3 and 2.6 newlineat 15 minutes and6 hours and the mean patient satisfaction survey is newline68.1. In Group B, the mean VAS score on arrival is 7.45 which newlineimproved to 5.9 and 5.7 at 15 minutes and 6 hours and the mean newlinepatient satisfaction survey is 61.6 and all the 40 patients stayed in newlinethe hospital and underwent definitive treatment newline
