Phytopharmaceuticals have long been utilized therapeutically for a large number of human disorders and are still being used for many of the health benefits. Plant extracts are used in therapeutics to prevent and treat diseases and ailments or to support health and healing. Every culture throughout the history has evolved a system of disease therapy using herbs. Nature has provided a vast materia medica originated from plants. Recently, there has been an increased interest in the use of natural medicines presumably due to their relatively higher availability, affordability, and the perceived lower risk compared to synthetic drugs. About 80% of the world population presently use herbal drugs.
