Abstract: Tourism is one of the largest job creating industries in the World. In newline2019, before the pandemic, the tourism industry accounted for one in tenth of newlineall jobs created in the World. More than 62 million people employed in the newlinetourism industry lost their jobs in 2020 due to pandemic travel restrictions. newlineHowever, the industry is expected to recover faster than other industries and newlinewill play a key role in achieving United Nations sustainable development goals newlinein 2030. To do so, the industry must develop tourism models that are carbon newlineneutral and centralises the growth of the host community. Hence, the role of the newlinehost community in reviving the tourism industry is inevitable in the present newlinepandemic scenario. newline
