Abstract: | Indirect taxes income is a major source of revenue for any government. It is the newlinebackbone of the country s social policy. Both the Central Government and State newlineGovernments use indirect taxes proceeds for the development of the country newlinethrough improving infrastructure, providing public health care services, newlinedeveloping rural areas, and many more. On 1st July 2017, the Government of newlineIndia boldly rolled out Goods and Services Tax (GST) with the concept of One newlineNation, One Tax, and One Market. With the introduction of Goods and Services newlineTax, there is hope that the new tax regime would rekindle our growing economy. newlineSince implementation, the government and its agents are on their way to newlinedisseminating the information, educating the people, and improving their newlineunderstanding of the need for Goods and Services Tax system. However, newlinebusinesspeople appear to be confused about the actual operations of the Goods newlineand Services Tax system. At the early stage of implementation, many questions newlineand complaints have been reported to the related tax authorities. It has become a newlinevery important issue that has been discussed by people day-to-day. This incident newlineraises questions about the level of awareness among businesspeople about Goods newlineand Services tax. Therefore, this study tries to get a clear picture of the degree of newlineawareness, knowledge, and understanding of Goods and Services Tax (GST) newlineamong businesspeople in Nagaland. newline |
