Abstract: | INTRODUCTION: Shoulder discomfort is a prevalent issue among diabetic people, leading to limited mobility, decreased productivity, and lower standards of life. Persons with the condition have a greater incidence of shoulder diseases, with adhesive capsulitis and RC tendinopathy among particularly often occurring and debilitating conditions. This research aims to evaluate the frequency of RC rupture among individuals with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus who have shoulder discomfort. newlineMATERIALS AND METHODS: A sum of 100 diabetic peoples having shoulder pain and restriction of movements formed the study group and were prospectively studied using MRI imaging and was analyzed by regard to the presence of RC injury. The factors that were analyzed included HBA1C levels, duration of diabetes, type of diabetic medication. The above parameters have been evaluated in terms of their link towards RC injury. newlineRESULTS: In our research we found that the prevalence of RC tear as 37% and there seemed to be significant correlation between HBA1c levels (mean :9.2), prolonged duration of diabetes mellitus (mean:7.8years) and RC tear. newlineCONCLUSION: newlineDiabetes serves as an autonomous indicator for RC damage. RC tear is more known in individuals having diabetes who have elevated HBA1c values and have had diabetes for a long time. The application of Metformin in individuals with Type 2 diabetes was linked to a decreased occurrence of RC erosion. newline |
