Abstract: | INTRODUCTION:Infertility is commonly defined as the absence of pregnancy after one year of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse.Tubal pathology accounts for 30-40% of infertility cases. Evaluating the patency of the fallopian tube is a crucial step in the initial assessment process for identifying the underlying reason of infertility. Therefore, SSG and HSG is used in assessment of tubal patency. newline AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: The main objective is to investigate the specificity of using Sonosalphinghogram as a minimally invasive screening test for evaluating tubal patency. Additionally, we seek to compare the accuracy, positive predictive value, and efficacy of Sonosalphinghogram with that of Hysterosalphingogram in assessing tubal patency. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of SSG in comparison to HSG in detecting the patency of the fallopian tubes. newline MATERIALS AND METHODS: A nine-month cross-sectional study was done in the field of radiology. department in chettinad Hospital and Research Institute. The study includes cases that received HSG during the study period. This study includes a cohort of 85 patients who underwent HSG during the study period. The patient was subjected to ultrasound and fluoroscopy by using GE Voluson machine and Fluorovision Siemens respectively. newline RESULTSandCONCLUSION:We infer that the SSG was found to have better diagnostic efficacy in predicting cases with tubal blocks when compared with HSG as a gold standard test. newline |
