Abstract: | The Energy Storage Systems (ESS) comprise in cooperation of Ultra-Capacitors (UC) and batteries which have been extensively calculated in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) purposes. newlineThe UC releases the high-energy compactness battery component from the highest energy transmission stress because of their sophisticated detailed efficiency and power. This process will prolong the battery lifetime duration and significantly decreases the essential size of the battery. This is possible because ultra-capacitors supply and absorb sudden bursts of energies required by the automobile during acceleration and deceleration respectively there by helping the battery banks to supply a constant base load. newlineAfter the detailed Literature survey and studying the various gaps in the intended research area , the problem statement was formulated, which led to a detailed performance evaluation of various topologies of battery-ultra-capacitor configuration and design of efficient Energy Storage System for electric vehicles and Hybrid electric vehicles using both batteries and ultra-capacitor. Hence the investigation is focused on the development of algorithm to store enough energy in the ultra- capacitor for driving and appropriately control the power sharing between battery and ultra-capacitors. newlineAim of the research : newline1. To investigate the influence of depth of discharge of ultracapacitor on sizing of battery and power modules. newline2. To carry out performance evaluation of topological overview of battery-ultracapacitor combination drive-train. newline3. Development of an effective algorithm to monitor the charge on ultracapacitors at various speeds and to investigate and formulate control strategy to limit the charging and discharging of ultracapacitor as a function of velocity. newline4. To predetermine the efficiency of the system w.r.t sizing of ultracapacitor and battery combination so as to aid the designer. newlineAn ANN based controller HESS model is developed by using the combination of NiMH battery and ultra-capacitor for HEV. Both the battery and ultra-cap |
