Abstract: | Generation Z (Gen Z) employees are the future workforce, and their retention is crucial for newlineorganisations. In the present study, the influencing factors are examined with a focus on human newlineresource practices, leadership role, job satisfaction, motivation, and gender. This descriptive newlinestudy was conducted only on those Gen Z professionals who were born on or after 1st January newline1995, have a minimum work experience of six months and working in India. The survey method newlinewas used with a positivistic research philosophy, deductive research approach, and quantitative newlineresearch design for collecting primary data from the participants. The snowball sampling newlinetechnique was used to select the sample population comprising 1419 employees belonging to newlinethe Gen Z generation as per the inclusion criteria. It was found that the human resource practices newlineand leadership role affected the retention of Gen Z employees. The influence of human resource newlinepractices and leadership role was mediated by job satisfaction and work motivation. Further, newlinethe relationship between human resource practices and leadership role was not moderated by newlinegender for employee retention. The findings are critical for organisations and have several newlineuseful managerial implications and when implemented would increase the possibility of newlineretention of Gen Z employees. Further studies could be conducted on different attributes of Gen Z employees in various sectors across several countries. |
