Abstract: | Engaged employees are the ones who are physically, mentally and emotionally connected to their place of work. They exhibit a high level of passion, energy, enthusiasm, involvement, dedication and motivation to accomplish their jobs well. According to the employee engagement researches carried out by consulting firms, practitioners and researchers all across the world it has been found out that achieving higher levels of employee engagement helps in increasing productivity and profitability of the organization, encourages employees to be innovative and creative, improves morale and loyalty among employees, reduces absenteeism and employee turnover, improves customer satisfaction, leads to better health and safety of employees, reduces employee burnout and contributes to a happier home life too. All these benefits ultimately lead to achievement of business goals and help in driving the organizations forward to achieve success. That is why companies are giving so much importance to increasing employee engagement and finding out the various aspects that can help them to build an engaged workforce. newlineWe know that the society s culture influences the behavior of people lining in the society and how they respond to different situations. Similarly, there is a direct relationship between organizational culture and employee engagement. That is why it has become a topic of discussion and research among academic researchers, consulting firms and HR practitioners. newlineAn organization s culture reflects the overall environment at the workplace. It can be observed in the overall behavior and attitude of employees towards each other, organizational values, vision, mission, beliefs, office rituals, communication styles and the language of people who are working together with each other, stated and unstated rules, rewards and recognition process etc. It basically governs how and why things are done in an organization.
