Abstract: Banking Sector is the foundation of an economy. It is the backbone and core of financial sector of the economy. It is a major service sector who plays a pivotal role in the development of economy. Economic condition of economy basically depends upon the effectiveness and efficiency of Banking Sector. Indian Banking system is in developing stage. It is developing in terms of technology and no. of branches but still there are challenges for banks regarding to reach in rural areas, quality of assets, credit risk, risk management and non-performing assets, non-performing loans, providing credit to priority, weaker sectors and productive sector. Banks diversify the services to suit the needs of the customer and provide credit under differential rates of interest schemes. newline
