Abstract: Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum, Methi), Kenaf (Hibiscus newlinecannabinus Linn, Pundi), Chick pea (Cicer arietinum Linn, Chana) and Prickly lettuce newline(Lactuca scariola Linn, Hattaraki) leaves are few of indigenous plants which are routinely newlineconsumed by the people of north Karnataka region of India in the diet. Studies revealed newlineon these plants noticed some potential anti-diabetic efficacies. newlineObjectives: To evaluate the in vitro glucose reduction capabilities and anti diabetic newlineeffects of Trigonella foenum graecum, Hibiscus cannabinus Linn, Cicer arietinum Linn newlineand Lactuca scariola Linn extracts in alloxan induced albino rats with or without Ni2+ newlinesupplementation. Also to study the anti diabetic role of these plant extracts in relationship newlineto oxygen dependent micro environment in vivo in diabetic experimental model through newlinediabetic regulatory molecular mechanisms analyzed by NOS3, HIF-1and#945; and VEGF protein newlineexpressions. Further, to evaluate electrophysiological interpretation to understand newlinefunctional pathophysiology of cardiovascular system and histopathology of liver, kidney, newlineheart and aortic tissues of experimental diabetic rats were studied with the newlinesupplementation of the most efficient anti diabetic plan extract. newlineMethod: In vitro and in vivo tests on glucose regulatory systems, analysis of molecular newlinemarkers as NOS3, HIF-1and#945; and VEGF were carried out on plant extracts supplemented to newlinethe diets of alloxan-induced diabetic rats. Electrophysiological analysis like HRV, LF: HF newlineratio, baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) and histopathology of myocardial tissues and elastic newlineartery were also examined on diabetic rats treated with Lactuca scariola Linn. newline
