dc.description.abstract | Background: The incidence of hypertension is increasing day by day due to faulty mode of living. Management of Hypertension includes both medicines and therapeutic lifestyle changes. Various studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of homoeopathic treatment along with TLC in managing the condition and prevent progression of the disease. Thus, demonstrating the effectiveness of individualized homoeopathic medicines in cases of hypertension. Although many researches in the concerned field have been conducted in the past with significant results but there were not found any evidence based studies involving the use of different potencies of homoeopathic medicines establishing the difference in them. newlineObjective: To compare the effectiveness of individualized homoeopathic medicines in LM potencies and centesimal potencies in managing the cases of essential hypertension by comparing the pre and post treatment blood pressure values in between groups. newlineMaterial and Methods: It was a randomized clinical trial of individualized homoeopathic medicines in fifty millesimal potencies vis-à -vis centesimal potencies. Duration of this study was of 18 months; including enrolment for 09 months and follow up for a period of 09 months. Total 103 patients were enrolled in the study however, 10 patients were considered as drop out hence, the analysis was performed on 93 patients. The Group A is the patients treated with CH potency, n = 45 and Group B is the patients treated with LM potency, n = 48. The analysis was carried out using SPSS 24.0 version. Over all improvement in both groups was done using Friedman s Test with post Hoc analysis using Wilcoxon s Signed Rank Test. Difference between CH and LM group on average systolic and diastolic BP was done by using Mann Whitney s U Test. newlineResults: At the end of study, 93 patients were analyzed as 10 patients were dropped out during the study. Among total 93 Hypertensive patients, 45 patients are treated with CH potencies whereas, 48 patients are treated with LM potencies. It can be concluded that there is statistical significance on systolic blood pressure and newlineii newlineDiastolic blood pressure when CH and LM potency are prescribed. Both the group of treatment has produced significant result individual, but when compared they both are non inferior from each other. In the both arm all of the outcomes (SBP, DBP) improved significantly all Plt 0.05. The change in SBP and DBP for LM potency was 143.6+/-8.62 mm Hg and 91.53+/_4.36 respectively and for CH potency is 145.81+/_8.45 and 91.10+/_4.99 mm Hg respectively. The medicines frequently prescribed were Sulphur, Lycopodium ,Natrium muriaticum and Pulsatilla. newlineConclusion: On the basis of statistical analysis and the value of probability derived from such analysis, null hypothesis of no difference was accepted. Further researches by randomized trials with enhanced methodological rigor are justified. newline | |
