Abstract: | It is difficult to predict how the Indian automobile organisations will progress world-wide, it is imperative to prepare in terms of informed predictions to challenge the uncertainties. The success of an organisation is not solely dependent on the Theory of Constraints and Total Productive Maintenance but how well and timely address the challenges. Success of methodology in the organisation is significantly dependent on the commitment of top management and most importantly their people can consistently push themselves to adopt, learn with flexibility. Theory of Constraints has made significant contributions for innovations. However, that knowledge is not public. It s application pace has slowed down and needs further acceleration level in imparting basic information of TOC, knowledge upgradation amongst all industry sectors. In India it may not be popular as in the western countries, future scope will find the gap between the popularity. This research is focussed on manufacturing function and other functions can be considered for future research such as Project, Sales, Supply chain management, Finance, and others. The scope of improvement in the implementation of The Theory of Constraints and Total Productive Maintenance in Indian Industries is vast, even if 10% practice year on year. This is possible, only if the top management drives this initiative consistently for four to five years including supply chain partners. newlineThe Theory of Constraints methodology if used in operations management is having positive impact on the overall performance in the organisation. Theory of Constraints can be used in any organisation for the upliftment in performance parameters such as Throughput, Inventory, Cash flow and profit optimisation. The five focussing steps with change sequence for change in resistance level along with thinking process tools such as process of continuous improvement (POOGI). These tools help the organisation to work towards goal in a structured manner. |
