Abstract: method used to examine the citations within scholarly publications. It involves analyzing the patterns, relationships, and characteristics of citations to gain insights into the impact, influence, and dissemination of scientific research. By studying citations, researchers can evaluate the importance of specific publications, identify influential authors, track the development of research topics, and uncover connections between different scientific works. Scientific citation analysis is used in various fields, including medicine, biology, physics, chemistry, and social sciences. An introductive part includes definitions, objectives, research methodology, scope and limitation, hypothesis, chapterisation scheme. It also includes methods of citation analysis with review of related literature and contribution in pharmacy education of the selected universities of Maharashtra state. This study focuses on conducting a scientific citation analysis of pharmacy doctoral theses of selected universities of Maharashtra state in the year 2011-2018, to assess the research landscape, identify influential studies, and understand the patterns of citation within the field. The research utilizes a systematic approach to collect and analyze data from Ninety (90) samples of pharmacy doctoral theses from (SRTMU, Dr.BAMU, Pune, Solapur, MU, NMU, SNDT, Shivajiv, Bharati and DY Patil) universities of Maharashtra state which have 18013 citations. The study employs bibliometric techniques to extract citation data from the selected theses. Studies have analyzed the citation patterns from journals 13760 (76.38%) ,books 2728 (15.14%) conferences, govt. publication, Reports, web resources (1.53%), theses and from other related material.
