Abstract: | Sports refer to a wide range of physical activities that are usually newlineundertaken competitively and for the purpose of recreation, entertainment or personal newlinefulfillment. Sports include individual or team activities, indoor or outdoor events and newlineamateur or professional competitions. They play an essential role in promoting newlinephysical, mental, and social well-being, and are an important part of human newlinedevelopment and culture in both Sportsmen and Non Sportsmen.In this study the newlineresearcherselected 1000 male students among whom 500 were sportsmen and 500 newlinenon-sportsmen, as subjects ranging between 18 to 24 years and compared various newlinetraits of temperament namely Sociability, Ascendance, Secretiveness, Reflective, newlineImpulsivity, Placid, Accepting, Responsible, Vigorous, Co-operative, Persistence, newlineWarmth, Aggressiveness, Tolerance and Tough mindedness among the sportsperson newlineand non- sportsperson studying in undergraduate coursesand they were measured by newlineadministering Dimension of Temperament scale designed by Dr. N. K. Chadha and newlineMiss Sunandachandna. newlineThe data was collected on selected criterion variables and they were newlinestatistically analyzed by using independent t ratio. In all the cases, .05 level of newlineconfidence was fixed to test the significance.The results of the study showed that the newlineSportsmen had very high Secretiveness, Reflectiveness, Impulsivity, Placid, newlineResponsible, Vigorousness, they had high Ascendance, Co-Operative, Persistence, newlineWarmth, Aggressiveness, Tolerance and Tough-Mindedness, and they also had newlineaverage Sociability, While Non sportsmen had very High Vigorousness, Average newlineSecretiveness, Reflectiveness, Placid, Responsible, Low Sociability, Ascendance, newlineImpulsivity, Cooperativeness, Persistence, Warmth, Aggressiveness, Tolerance and newlineTough-Mindedness. newlineHence the study reveals that there was a significant diff newline |
