Stress Anxiety Depression and Emotional Intelligence in Inter University Players of Selected Rackets Games

Abstract

Racket games are among the most important games that have newlinecontributed to achieve in noble results for some countries regionally and newlineinternationally, represented in badminton, table tennis and tennis. Researchers newlinebelieve that those interested in studying sports behaviour have attempted to newlineuse psychology in growing the level of motivation towards attaining the best newlineachievement by taking into account the prerequisites and desires of the newlineathletes to achieve the highest achievements. The present study focuses on the newlineSouth Zone Inter-University players of selected Racket games level of stress, newlineanxiety and depression, besides it also explored the Emotional Intelligence. newlineTotal sample for the study included 210 Racket game players [(M-105, F- newline105) (Tennis-M-35, F-35), Badminton (M-35, F-35) and table tennis (M-35, newlineF-35)]. Data was collected through using questionnaire method. For newlinemeasuring Stress, Anxiety and Depression ADSS Scale by Bhatnagar P., newlineSingh M and Pandey M (2011) and for Emotional Intelligence Dr.S.K Mangal newlineand Mrs. Shubhra. Mangal s scales were used. Table tennis players newlineexperienced slightly more stress (p=0.017*) compared to badminton and newlinetennis players. On the other hand anxiety, depression and Emotional newlineIntelligence were not found to be significant among the players.
