Abstract: | In the present work we have prepared antifouling coatings using two different approaches i.e. 1. hydrophilic and 2. Hydrophobic. In case of hydrophilic concept, a silicone-modified soya alkyd / TiO2-based nanocomposites with varied contents of nano TiO2 were synthesized and paint formulations were prepared using conventional additives of rutile TiO2 and barytes (Chapter 3). The cured coatings showed UV radiation-induced hydrophilic characteristics, which were found to be a strong function of nano-TiO2 content. In second approach, novel anticorrosive fouling release coating systems have been prepared based on self-stratified concept using silicone/epoxy system. newline |
