Abstract: | The thesis has categorised India s organic food market by type of products and distribution channels. In India, a paradigm shifts among consumers, after the lockdown, toward preventive health-management practices is driving market growth, and is expected to further boost organic food market in future. newline newlineA key driver for demand of India s organic food market is India s increasing health consciousness. The expansion in the marketing and distribution channels coupled with an increasing number of health-conscious individuals is also expected to drive organic food consumption in India through the year 2026. State of cereal pulses in organic farming as opposed to conventional agriculture Recognizing the importance of cleaner food for the human population, the demand for organic products, particularly in developing countries, is increasing daily. newline newlineThe selection for utilizing grain legumes under organic agriculture is increasing day by day because of increasing organic food consumption because of improved organic markets. Organic grain legumes are produced at lower levels than conventionally produced legumes, but the yields are improving day by day by implementing the new research modules developed by the agriculture institutions. Organic grain legumes are being utilized better not as food for consumption, but are being developed as the basis for the agriculture markets as high-value exports to other countries. newline newlineIn terms of production, India has produced around 1.24 lakh tonnes of certified organic products including sugarcane, cotton, oilseeds, basmati rice, pulses, spices, tea, fruits, dried fruits, vegetables, coffee, and value-added products. Organic products are not limited to food items, it also includes organic cotton and other everyday items, etc. Of all states, Madhya Pradesh occupies the largest scope of organic production certification followed by Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. |
