Abstract: | newline Performance Analysis of Ducted Dual Rotor Wind Turbine With Variable Rotor Position newlineVinay Mishra newline newlineABSTRACT newline newline The main aim of this study is to increase the extraction percentage of energy from wind using ducted dual rotor wind turbine. The analysis was carried out experimentally and numerically (CFD) for the increase of Coefficient of Power and Power develop at low wind velocity. It has been compared and found that dual rotor wind turbine having a larger value of Coefficient of Power and torque as compared to single rotor wind turbine. Moreover ducted dual rotor wind turbine having larger value of Coefficient of Power as compared to bare wind turbine, on the other hand, better stability due to better weight balance condition. It was also found that ducted dual rotor wind turbine can develop more power even at low open air wind velocity which is not possible in case of unducted wind turbine. In this way, a large amount of energy can be extracted with the larger value of torque and power from ducted dual rotor wind turbine as compared to bare single rotor wind turbine at low wind velocity. Experimental analysis has been carried out for Single Rotor Wind Turbine and Dual Rotor Wind Turbine with variable rotor separation, while numerical analysis has been carried out for Single Rotor Wind Turbine and Ducted Single Rotor Wind Turbine. Further Dual Rotor Wind Turbine and Ducted Dual Rotor Wind Turbine have been analyzed on CFD with variable Rotor separation. The performance parameters on which the study was made are torque, power developed, and coefficient of power. newlineThe size of the rotors and rotor separation has a significant effect on the performance of ducted dual rotor wind turbines. The objective of the present work is to optimize the distance between two rotors of dual rotor wind turbine installed in the throat section of a duct. With regard to this, study includes design, fabricate, and to evaluate Dual Rotor Wind Turbine (DRWT) located in a developed duct known as Ducted Dual |
