Abstract: | newline India has a good number of technical education institutions and many of them are in Tamilnadu. The institutions are affiliated to the university and satisfy the rules of the university. The chief goal of the academic institutions is to prepare the candidates for the university examinations. Earlier, institutions were not given emphasis in collaborative activities with regard to projects and research in industries. The competition among the Colleges in recent times, have made the industrialists to take part in academic activities such as sharing of knowledge through lectures and seminars and provide in campus placements. newline newlineIt is necessary to understand the collaboration between industry and technical Institute Such a study is indispensable to both industry and technical institute. In fact most institutions do not have a functional collaboration with industries. Many technical institutions concentrate only on creating professionals, without providing them any professional and practical experience during their period of study. In reality, many graduates have professional certificates, but remain unemployed. It is because they are not competent enough and updated and with the latest technological requirements of the industry. The reality is that technical education in India has established with very little or no functional collaboration with the industry and thus it has become a system less relevant to the current tends of industrial development. newline newlineAt present, the exposure of professional students to related industries towards gaining competence in knowledge and the required skills is very much vital. Thus, we notice that there is a need of a relationship between institutions and industries. The term relationship refers to a cooperative arrangement in which two or more organizations work jointly towards a common goal.
