Abstract: With the advancement in engineering industry, the demands for Aluminium Matrix Composites (AMCs) possessing superior properties such as high hardness, high wear resistance, low thermal expansion and high strength to weight ratio over the conventional monolithic alloys are ever increasing with an intention to enhance the production capabilities. AMCs reinforced with ceramic particulates have gained very good attention in the present era. AMCs find their applications in automotive, defence, aerospace and shipbuilding industries. Among other ceramic reinforcements, titanium diboride (TiB2) emerged to be the most promising reinforcement because TiB2 refines aluminium alloy grains which enhances the mechanical properties and TiB2 also possess lubricating properties which enhances the tribological properties. newline
