Abstract: | The tradition of playwriting is ancient because since time immemorial, plays have been the source of entertainment for people. The one who cannot read them, can definitely attain pleasure by watching them being performed. Play is such a literary technique, by which the playwright, through the mode of acting, causes the story to reach the hearts of people. The sand#363;ktis or good sayings, being spoken by the characters, also have an influence on it. Just like the other literary devices such as rasa, guand#7751;a, rand#299;ti, dhvani, chanda, alaand#7749;kand#257;ra and so forth, sand#363;ktis also hold an important place in literary works. Sand#363;ktis attract the minds of humans just like the constellations in the night sky. In this thesis titled Kand#257;lidand#257;sa Evaand#7747; Bhavabhand#363;ti Kand#299; Nand#257;and#7789;yasand#363;ktiyoand#7747; Kand#257; Samand#299;kand#7779;and#257;tmaka Adhyayana , the sand#363;kti-vand#257;kyas which possess sand#363;ktiguand#7751;as (tathyand#257;tmakatand#257;, sand#257;mand#257;nyand#257;tmakatand#257;, bhand#257;and#7779;and#257;sauand#7779;and#7789;hava, saand#7749;kand#7779;iptatand#257;, arthapand#363;rand#7751;atand#257;), have been selected and the perceptions, experiences, interests of these Mahand#257;kavins have been studied in the light of ancient culture. Along with this, the ideas of other scholars on these issues have also been stated, through which the application of these sand#363;ktis in the present times has been analysed. In this thesis, through the medium of sand#363;ktis, the ideas of the said Mahand#257;kavins regarding Puruand#7779;and#257;rthacatuand#7779;and#7789;aya, newlineDharma, Varand#7751;and#257;and#347;rama, Rand#257;janand#299;ti, Adhyand#257;tma and other miscellaneous topics have been stated. It is evident from the analysis presented n this thesis, that the sand#363;ktis of these Mahand#257;kavins in their Nand#257;and#7789;ya texts, are verily applicable to the present times. newline newline |
