An Empirical study of Green Supply Chain Management Practices at star hotels of Punjab and Chandigarh

Abstract

More and more people around the world are becoming concerned about environmental degradation brought on by climate change, ozone hole removal, air pollution, and a scarcity of resources (Babiak, 2011). Firms and activities e.g., purchasing, manufacturing, and logistics relating supply chains frequently have significant environmental implications (Eltayeb et al., 2010). Going green is becoming more and more important as environmental awareness grows and government laws increase (Sarkis et al., 2011). Environmentally responsible companies, on the other hand, can reap the benefits of improved corporate image, effective resource usage, decreased disposal and legal expenses, or new business prospects produced by an increased demand for green solutions (Porter, 1995; Min, 1997; Montabon et al., 2007). Even in the face of market pressures or government laws, many businesses are unwilling to adopt green practises and meet their social duties. newline Findings of the study throw light on the factors that affect the Green supply chain Practices of Hotels in the study. Also, these are revealing the impact of green supply chain management practices on the hotel s performance with respect to financial performance, brand image and sustainability in the study area. This study analysed the challenges regarding the implementation of Green Supply Chain Management Practices. It put light on the suggest measures to overcome the barriers for implementing Green Supply Chain Management practices. The findings also explored the demographic relationship between the categories of hotels to be developed to indicate which Category of hotel follows green supply chain management and the relationship between the selected cities to be developed to indicate which city follows green supply chain management. newline newline
