Abstract: Background: Nocturnal enuresis is prevalent in about 7.61% 16.3% of children in newlineIndia and affects the emotional state, selfand#8209;esteem, of a child; thus negatively newlineimpacting the QOL of children. Homeopathic medicines have been found to be newlinehighly efficacious in not only reducing episodes of bed wetting but also in newlineimproving self esteem of children; howsoever there is a paucity of controlled clinical newlinetrials evaluating the effect of Homeopathic medicine on Nocturnal enuresis. newlineAim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of Homeopathic Medicine in newlinereducing episodes of bedwetting and improving QOL in children. newlineMaterials and Methodology: A Prospective, Randomised, Placebo controlled, newlineSingle blind, Pretest-Posttest positive control group trial on children 6-12 years of newlineage presenting with Nocturnal Enuresis was carried out at the OPD of Shaheed Raja newlineHari Prasad Mall Government Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, newlineGorakhpur. U.P. A total of 80 individuals were enrolled; out of which 12 subjects newlinedropped-out and 68 cases completed the study. These were randomized in ratio 1:1 newlineafter enrollment to receive either Placebo or Homeopathic medicine. The episodes of newlinebed wetting were measured at every 14 days; QoL was evaluated using the Pediatric newlineIncontinence Quality-of-Life questionnaire (PinQ). Outcome was assessed on the newlinebasis of reduction in the number of episodes of bedwetting; PinQ scores of lt 20 newlineindicated a mild, 21-50 moderate, and gt51 severe impact on QoL. newlineEpisodes of bedwetting and PinQ values were recorded at baseline and at end of newlinestudy period and statistically analysed. newlineResults: Dependent sample (paired) t-test was used, to assess the effect of newlineHomeopathic Medicines on number of wet nights post treatment (M= 1.24, SD= newline2.09), compared to pre treatment (M= 5.54, SD= 1.22); it indicated decrease in newlinenumber of wet nights after treatment with Homeopathic Medicines, difference of newlinemean= 4.30, t(33)= 1.64, plt0.001. newlineConclusion: Homeopathic Medicines have potential result in reducing episodes of newlinebedwetting and producing positive response on QOL in children. newline
