Progress in Nanotechnology had made its avenue in virtually all fields ranging from science to engineering, influencing our lifestyle in many ways. Remarkable progress has been achieved in both applied and fundamental scientific investigation on nanomaterials and bio-based nanomaterials due to nanoparticles unique properties such as catalytic, biosensors, chemotherapeutic agents etc., The plant extracts, due to their pharmacological activities are gaining more attention in the biomedical field. One such plant extract is Anacardic acid, extracted and isolated from naturally obtained Cashew nut shell liquid, which exhibits numerous biomedical properties such as antibacterial, antimicrobial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive properties. newlineConsidering the potentials of both Anacardic acid and Metal oxide nanoparticles such as TiO2 and ZnO, the present thesis makes an effort to develop novel Benzamide derivatives of Anacardic acid and Anacardic acid conjugated TiO2 and ZnO hybrid nanoparticles and evaluated them thoroughly in biomedical applications such as cytotoxicity on various cancer cell lines. The literature survey reveals that there is a scope for developing such hybrid nanomaterials and there are no other reports on these materials and their cytotoxicity towards various cancerous cell lines. newlineSaturated Anacardic acid (AA) was extracted and isolated from naturally obtained Cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL). The structure of AA was confirmed through 1HNMR and 13CNMR. The novel benzamide derivatives of AA were synthesized using various amines and their structures were confirmed through FT-IR, 1HNMR and 13CNMR. The synthesized derivatives of AA were analyzed for anticancer activity against HepG2 cell lines. Further the western-blotting studies proved the cytotoxic effect of Benzamide derivatives of AA on HepG2 cell lines. newlineThe literature survey reveals that metal oxide nanoparticles such as TiO2 and ZnO have several unique properties like magnetic, chemotherapeutic antioxidant etc., in order to enhance their
