Abstract: MSME is the spine of any country s economy. In India, MSME plays important role in the social and economic development. The intensity of this segment is not narrow to national level, it also creates income source for government by exporting its goods and services at global level. To organize the business, MSME sector has various sources of finance and aids the government to improve this segment. With this funding, MSME could succeed to achieve the goals of social and economic development of India. In spite of all these positive things MSMEs are suffering because of non-availability adequate and hassle-free funds within expected time period. This causes the sector to go rack and ruin and habitually, finds itself in searching ease of credit sources rather than progresses and innovations. Therefore, the study has been commenced to understand the foremost problem of MSMEs in Latur district, Maharashtra State, India. Survey has been done by collecting primary data from 436 MSME respondents and 105 Bank officers and employees who are working in MSME credit department in State Bank of India. Chi-square test is used to test the hypotheses and Mode is used find primary problems of MSME borrowers of State Bank of India in Latur district. Chapter 1 deals with introduction of Study which consists, theoretical context of banking system in India and credit appraisal techniques, History of Banks in India, Structure of Indian Banking System, role of banks in the development of MSME sector, Credit Policy of Banks, Different credit appraisal methods adopted by banks in India, Credit Appraisal for Project Financing of any company or enterprises, Overview of MSME sector, Role and importance of MSMEs in Indian economy. Government policies to encourage MSMEs, Problems of MSME in accessing credit.
