Abstract: | The study is to examine OCB and its dimensions and its impact on employee s performance with Job Satisfaction as the moderating variable. The dimensions of OCB considered for the study are Altruism, Conscientiousness, Sportsmanship, Civic virtue, and Courtesy as coined by D. W. Organ. The study is confined to the operating private sector banks in Bangalore city. newlineThe probability sampling methodology is employed in this study. Stratified Sampling is used to divide the whole population of 12963 into two strata: managers and officers, using the stratified sampling methodology. Then, with 306 officers and 99 clerk level personnel, a simple random sampling procedure was employed to obtain a representative sample from each stratum. Sixty-five managers were asked to complete a questionnaire about the performance of 405 employees. newlineThe primary data was collected by distributing the questionnaire to 405 employees of various private sector banks operating in Bangalore city. There were 2 questionnaires used in the study. The first questionnaire was distributed to the officer and clerk cadre employees which consisted of questions to measure their OCB, different dimensions of OCB and Job Satisfaction. The second questionnaire was distributed to the branch managers to rate the performance of the employees who responded to the first questionnaire from the same branch. newlineThe tools used for data analysis are ANOVA, T test, Factor analysis, Multiple regression analysis and PLS-SEM and result of analysis shows that there is a strong positive relationship between the OCB dimensions and employee performance. It is proved that employee s performance is enhanced if they exhibited OCB. Employee Performance is indirectly influenced/ moderated by Job satisfaction. newlineThis study makes few implications for the future research stating that the study can be extended to various other cities in India, study different other sectors of banks and for a different time frame.
