Abstract: The nucleon-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus on-shell interactions are investigated at low newlineenergies through different theoretical approaches adapted within the framework of newlinenonrelativistic time independent scattering theory. In contrast to the traditional method of newlinerepresenting the nuclear interaction by the short-range local potential, we discuss the problem newlinewithin the formalism of the nonlocal separable model. newlineIn the beginning of the thesis, we emphasize on the localisation of nonlocal separable newlineinteractions to generate energy dependent equivalent local potentials. An equivalent energydependent local potential corresponding to Coulomb plus Graz separable potential is developed newlinethrough simple rearrangement of the Schrödinger equation. It is conjectured that local newlineCoulomb-like potential is equally applicable for the traditional phase function method. In newlineanother method energy-momentum dependent phase equivalent local potentials to the Graz newlineseparable one is constructed following the method of Arnold and MacKellar. In both newlinelocalisation processes scattering phase shifts for the nonlocal potential are computed via the newlineFredholm determinant and for equivalent local potential the same are calculated through the newlinephase function method for nucleon-nucleon and alpha-nucleon systems for reasonable newlinecomparative study. We achieve excellent agreement with the standard data up to partial wave newline= 2. It is observed that these methods of constructing equivalent local potentials work newlinesatisfactorily for few lower partial waves. newline
