dc.description.abstract | The usage of internal combustion engine ICE based vehicles in road transport faces several restrictions due to increased environmental pollution and noise. Several policies are framed by countries across the globe. Some of the policies are planning to discontinue internal combustion engine based vehicle within coming decades. It arises the need to focus on alternate and environment friendly power train based vehicle for road transport. Electric Vehicle EV is becoming a suitable choice to meet the objective of low or zero emission vehicle ZEV. Battery electric vehicle BEV is one of the categories of electric vehicle which has the ability to meet the objective of zero emission vehicle. Therefore, the research work is aimed at battery electric vehicle application. newlineThe major constituents of battery electric vehicle are traction motor, power electronic converter, battery pack and controller. Several traction motors are being reported and used in electric vehicle application. Among them induction motor is getting preference because of its magnetless construction and low cost. Therefore, induction motor is considered in this work for battery electric vehicle application. Further, this work is focused on the selection of suitable power electronic converter and control scheme. newline newline | |
