Abstract: Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic systemic inflammatory disease characterized by systemic features and joint involvement especially synovial joints and can lead to significant morbidity and mortality The etiology of the disease could be attributable to genetic and nongenetic factors such as hormonal environmental and infectious factors Vitamin D is known to modulate the immune system helping to regulate immune responses and reduce inflammation Changes in bone minerals including calcium and phosphorus have been observed in the context of RA Altered lipid levels have been reported in various inflammatory diseases including RA There is an increased risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease in RA subjects than in the general population Framingham Risk Score a simplistic index used for predicting the risk of cardiovascular diseases newline
