Abstract: | The present research study entitled An Analysis of KVKs Managed by University of newlineAgricultural Sciences, Dharwad and NGO in Karnataka was conducted in two KVKs one newlinemanaged by University Dharwad and other by NGO in the year 2006-07 in Gadag and Haveri newlinedistrict of Karnataka in considering three important courses like Vermicompost, Diary newlinemanagement and Mango cultivation. In each subject matter, 30 respondents were randomly newlineselected, thus constituting the total sample size of 180 respondents for the study. newlineStudy revealed that, higher knowledge of Vermicompost was observed in newlinerespondents of KVK Hulakoti followed by Hanumanamatti, mean knowledge analysis shown newlinethat respondents of KVK Hulakoti had significantly higher knowledge than Hanumanamatti. newlineMajority of the respondents of KVK Hulakoti had correct knowledge about improved practices newlinein all three areas compared to Hanumanamatti respondents. Whereas, better knowledge newlineabout practices like improved breeds (73.33% and 66.66%), artificial insemination (63.33% newlineand 60.00%) and colostrum feeding (66.66% and 50.00%) in case of Hulakoti and newlineHanumanamatti KVK respectively. newlineAdoption index of all the three technologies observed that respondents of KVK newlineHulakoti had significantly higher. Respondents had fully adopted Vermicompost practices like newlineraw material used (70.00% and 63.33%), selection of site (66.66% and 26.67%) in case of newlineKVK Hulakoti and Hanumanamatti respectively. More than half of the respondents had fully newlineadopted improved practices of Mango cultivation and Dairy management compare to KVK newlineHanumanamatti. newlineMore than half of the respondents belonged to medium age, education with the main newlineoccupation of the agriculture. newlineThe two KVKs had more or less similar infrastructure of building, land resources and newlineequipments. Education, organizational participation, economic motivation, source of newlineinformation and extension participation of respondents had significant relationship with newlineknowledge and adoption of three areas.
