A Case Control Study to Assess the Intact Parathyroid Hormone Phosphorus Calcium and Alkaline Phosphatase among Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease

Abstract

Many investigations and publications have demonstrated that CKD relates to newlinechanges in calcium and phosphorus metabolism, which result in higher newlinemortality and morbidity. This study was duration based case control study, newlinecarried out for a period of one year on clinically confirmed cases of CKD newlinevisiting Nephrology OPD and in patients at Index Medical College Hospital newlineIndore. A total of 200 subjects will be recruited , 100 CKD patients as cases newlineand 100 healthy controls. . Both, males and females were included in the newlinestudy.After obtaining approval from ethical committee and a written informed newlineconsent from both cases and controls, samples were collected. The baseline newlinedata, clinical history of both cases and controls were taken. The clinical newlinefindings, investigation report were entered on a predesigned proforma. newlineUnder strict aseptic precautions, 5ml of venous blood was collected after 8-10 newlinehours of overnight fasting, from both cases and controls. Blood samples were newlinecollected in vaccutainer and kept at room temperature for 30-40 minutes for newlineclotting and then centrifuged at 3000 revolutions per minute for 10 minutes. newlineSerum samples were separated and collected in an Eppendorf tube and newlinefollowing investigations were carried out.1) Electrochemiluminescence newlineimmunoassay (ECLIA)2) Photometric test using arsenazo III,3)Photometric UV newlinetest with endpoint determination,4)GLDH method : Fully Enzymatic newlinemethod,5)Modified Jaffe s Method,6)1) Kinetic photometric test newlineResult revealed that cases and the controls had their mean Urea levels newlinemeasured and analysed for comparison. In cases group mean urea level was newline75.31 ±26.93 and in control was 23.54 ±7.46.In cases group mean Alkaline newlinePhosphatase level was 89.41 ±26.93 but in controls mean Alkaline Phosphatase newlinelevel was 81.63 ±17.21. .
